Star Wars Lego has been going for some time now. It is seen as one of the most popular series that Lego have released and the more sets Lego bring out in the range the more it seems to grow in popularity. There have been some classic sets released over the years and it looks as though 2012 is going to be another year where we see some really great Lego Star Wars sets. There are several sets that are going to be released in 2012, some of these have been confirmed some have not. On this page we are just going to look at the ones that are definitely coming out. First of all then, let’s take a look at some of the larger sets.

Lego Star Wars 2012 Releases

So first of all let’s take a look at some of the larger sets from the new Star Wars range. There are to be six new ones released and these all look very impressive. The release date we have been given for these is January 29th 2012. First up is Droid Escape, this has the item number 9490 and will contain 137 pieces. It will contain C-3PO, R2-D2 and 2 sandtrooper minifigures. There will be an imperial speed bike and also an escape pod which splits up into two.

The next set released is going to be the Geonosian Cannon. This will have the item number 9491 and will contain 156 pieces. The price of this one is expected to be somewhere in the region of $25. You will get Commander Gree, Barriss Offee, a Geonosian Zombie and a warrior as the minifigures. This set features a cannon with moving parts. This looks like being a really good fun little Lego set.

The third release from this range is the TIE Fighter. This one has the item number 9492 and will feature 418 pieces, so quite a large set. You will get four nice little minifigures with this one, these will be a TIE fighter pilot, an Imperial officer, Death Star Trooper and a new R5-J2. The Death Star Trooper will be a brand new figure with a new look helmet and the Imperial Officer will be wearing black gloves.

Next we have the X-Wing Star Fighter, set to be the largest of the new Star Wars toys released in 2012. This one has the item number 9493 and will contain 533 pieces. The price of this one is expected to be somewhere in the region of $60. Again this one will feature four minifigures and these will be Luke Skywalker, Jek Porkins, R5-D8 and R2-D2. This really does look like an impressive set and could well be deemed one of the classic Lego Star Wars toys in the future.

Another one that looks like being very popular is Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor. With the item number 9494 this one has 168 pieces and is expected to retail at around $20. The interesting thing about this new set is that there will be five new minifigures with it, this is expected to make it quite popular. With this one you get Anakin Skywalker, Nute Gunray, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Battle Droid and R2-D2. Some of these have been redesigned to give them a fresh new look for 2012.

The last release in this line we are looking at is the Gold Leader’s Y-Wing Star Fighter. This has the item number 9495 and will contain 396 pieces. For some reason this one only gives you three minifigures, these will be Princess Leia, R5-F7 and Gold Leader. So there you go, six brand new Star Wars Lego sets for 2012. These are really seen as the main releases for the year, however, there are a few more. So let’s see what else Lego have in store for us.

More New Star Wars Lego Sets

In 2012 we are also going to see two new battle packs. These will be the Elite Clone Trooper & Commando Droid pack with the item number 9488. Also the Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack with item number 9489. Both these sets will contain less than 100 pieces are will be priced at around $14. They will both contain a few minifigures as well.

There will also be three small models released. The first of these will be the Naboo Star Fighter with the item number 9674. The second is Sebulba’s Podracer with item number 9675. Finally we will see the Tie Interceptor with item number 9676. These look like being nice little Lego sets that should be reasonably cheap.

As you can see there are lots of exciting new Star Wars Lego sets to be released in 2012. Some of these really do look impressive and no doubt they will sell very well again for the company. Later on in the year there is talk of more new sets being released and we may update this page when we know a little more about it. For now though we hope you enjoy the all new Lego Star Wars sets.

My 7 year old loves Star Wars Lego. I ordered him a set online and was a little dissapointed by the size of the set compared with the price i paid. Still boys love it, and it does keep them entertained. Thanks for sharing :)
