Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 - On Stranger Tides is due for release in May 2011. On Stranger Tides will once again feature Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. The forth film in the Pirates of the Caribbean saga follows on from the previous three. We have already seen the stunning Pirates of the Caribbean - Curse of the Black Pearl. The sequel film, ‘Dead Man’s Chest’ was also a big success. The third film ‘At World’s End’ was not quite given the same kind of media attention, perhaps due to the fact that the franchise seemed to be dragging on somewhat. So the fact that Disney are bringing out a forth Pirates of the Caribbean is an interesting move.

The first three films in the series were directed by Gore Verbinski but Pirates of the Caribbean 4 is being directed by Rob Marshall. Jerry Brookheimer Films and Disney are behind the film and they stick with Johnny Depp in the lead role as Captain Jack Sparrow. Johnny Depp has won many plaudits for his portrayal of Sparrow and no doubt viewers will flock to the cinema to see him in action once more. This time Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom do not feature. Instead the lead female role is played by the voluptuous Penelope Cruz. Also back in the film is Geoffrey Rush and new to the Pirates of the Caribbean is actor Ian McShane who plays Blackbeard the pirate.

On Stranger Tides see the Pirates of the Caribbean head in a slightly different direction. Jack Sparrow bumps into an old flame played by Penelope Cruz. As always the course of love does not run smooth for Jack Sparrow. He is not sure if he is being used by this mysterious woman as she goes on a quest to discover the fabled fountain of youth. Sparrow falls in with a pirate known as Blackbeard, now he must travel with these new associates who he fears, to look for the fountain of youth.

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 also has a few surprise cameos from actors such as Judi Dench, Richard Griffiths and Stephen Graham. Despite the fact that the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise seems to be dragging on somewhat it is expected that On Stranger Tides will still do very well at the box office. Johnny Depp is a wonderful actor and whatever role he is cast in he seems to play the part spectacularly. Captain Jack Sparrow has been lighting up our screens since 2003 and this new film will no doubt continue to make people smile.

Chances are if you are a fan of the Pirates films you will enjoy this one as well. It will be interesting to see if the new director takes the film in a different direction, or will it be more of the same. One thing is for sure, Pirates of the Caribbean 4 - On Stranger Tides will be one of the big films of 2011. Due for a release date of May 18^th in the UK and May 20^th in the US, On Stranger Tides will soon be hitting our screens and drawing in film goers by the millions.
